What Are the Benefits of Essential Oil Diffusers?
I may be preaching to the choir, but I need to put in a good word.
Diffusers are beneficial for several reasons.
Not only will they fragrance your home, office, or car, but they also promote well-being.
Diffusing essential oils benefits your mind and body.
Aromatherapy can dispel bad moods, reduce stress, help you focus, improve your breathing, and get rid of germs.
But your experience is definitely impacted by the quality of your diffuser.
The best essential oil diffuser on the market is the one that you will use and enjoy.
Therefore, let’s quickly go over the features you’ll want to consider.
Features Found on the Best Glass Oil Diffusers
As you begin to look for a diffuser, think about the questions below:
- Coverage – how far does the aroma reach?
- How long does it run before it needs a refill?
- Is there a timer?
- If there’s a mood light, can you alter the color or turn off the light completely?
- How noisy is the diffuser?
- How easy is it to clean?
- Can it handle the type of oils you want to diffuse?
- Will the cord be long enough for where you want to place it?
- Is there a satisfaction guarantee and/or warranty?
You’ll also want to decide between ultrasonic and nebulizing diffusers, or some other type.
I recently shared reviews of the best waterless diffusers. That article covers evaporative models, too.
The Difference Between Ultrasonic and Nebulizing Diffusers
Ultrasonic diffusers are cool mist humidifiers that also disperse essential oils.
(Regular humidifiers aren’t made to handle the oil.)
They run continuously for hours and often come with a mood light.
But if you don’t wish to add moisture to the air, or prefer a more therapeutic experience, you need a nebulizing diffuser.
Nebulizers atomize pure essential oil. There’s no need for carrier oils or water.
They usually run intermittently for up to two to four hours.
Safety Concerns When Using a Glass Essential Oil Diffuser
Limit intense exposure to no more than 20 minutes at a time (1).
In other words, if you’re using a nebulizing diffuser, don’t inhale the concentrated mist for longer than that. Take a break.
Otherwise, diffuse essential oils in an ultrasonic diffuser for up to an hour at a time, then let it rest.
Also, don’t diffuse in an enclosed space with no ventilation.
Ensure that pets can move about freely as they may be adversely affected by essential oils.
Finally, since these are glass diffusers, and most are electrical, the usual cautions apply regarding breakage and the use of electrical appliances with liquids.
Why You Might Prefer a Glass Essential Oil Diffuser
There are very good reasons why you’ll love a glass essential oil diffuser.
You won’t have to worry about toxins in plastic.
Plus, glass is environmentally friendly.
What’s more, glass diffusers are simply gorgeous.
Let’s look at the best ones now.
Two Scents Raindrop Nebulizing Diffuser
We’ll begin our reviews with one of my favorites. It’s a nebulizing diffuser that can cover very large rooms up to 850 ft.².
Inside the base is an air pump, not unlike the one pushing air through the lava stones in your fish tank.
The force of the air pulverizes or atomizes the essential oils at the bottom of the glass reservoir. Then, a fine mist of pure essential oil emerges from the top of the diffuser.
The diffuser has a built-in LED light that changes colors, and it allows you to customize the settings.
The manufacturer makes more than one style of this diffuser. You can choose from hardwood or ceramic bases in different colors. They bundle a reusable dropper, too.
In case you’re wondering which essential oils to use with it, look at my reviews of the best essential oils for the diffuser.
Sage Diffusers Nebulizing Diffuser for Essential Oils and Aromatherapy
Here’s a similar diffuser that comes with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
It has a timer function that turns it on for 5 minutes, then pauses for 3 minutes. The maximum runtime is 3 hours before it automatically shuts down.
But the best feature is the adjustable mist control. You can disperse more or less of the oil depending on the size of the room and the concentration you desire.
Young Living Essential Oils Aria Ultrasonic Diffuser
Online sleuths have discovered that Young Living’s Aria diffuser is the same as the Puzhen model made in China. It’s one of the most expensive that I reviewed, but it’s much more than just a diffuser.
First, you need to know that this is an ultrasonic model, not a nebulizer. It requires water as well as essential oil to operate. Don’t let the glass reservoir and maple wood base deceive you.
It has multicolored LED lights, too.
But here are the features that set it apart.
For one, it has a matching remote control. The control handles all the functions.
Next, it plays relaxing music, or you can plug in an external device to play your own tunes. It comes with an AV cord for this purpose.
Take note that they recommend using filtered or distilled water and up to 25 drops of essential oil. Happily, the glass bowl is dishwasher-safe.
In operation, the diffuser can cover up to 430 ft.².
Royal Living Crystal Cave Ultrasonic Aromatherapy Humidifier (Rose Gold)
Visitors to your home won’t guess that this is a diffuser unless they see the mist emerging from it.
It has an electroplated glass enclosure that’s far more decorative than the typical plastic or fake wood diffusers.
When full, it can run up to 8 hours intermittently. There’s even a warm white light if you choose to use it.
Organic Aromas Nebulizing Pure Essential Oil Aromatherapy Diffuser
Organic Aromas makes several different diffusers. This one is very quiet while running.
The plantation hardwood base is painted with a water-based lacquer.
You can choose to use the rainbow-colored mood light, or leave it off. Either way, it won’t affect the diffuser’s operation.
The timer lets it run for 2 minutes on, 1 minute off, for up to 2 hours.
The manufacturer offers a satisfaction guarantee plus a one-year free parts and service warranty.
Opulence – Nebulizing Essential Oil Diffuser by Organic Aromas
The Opulence model is about 9 inches tall and available with different bases and colors of glass.
Organic Aromas recommends using thin essential oils only in this diffuser. Don’t try to diffuse carrier oils either, even if you’re trying to thin thick oils with them.
They offer a satisfaction guarantee and a 1-year warranty.
Exquisite Nebulizing Aromatherapy Diffuser by Organic Aromas
Choose from black, red, or white bases for this minimalist diffuser. Each base is plantation hardwood painted with water-based lacquer. And each reservoir is handblown glass.
As it runs for 2 minutes on, 1 minute off, it’s extremely quiet.
Utama Spice Nebulizing Diffuser Danau Satu
It’s hard to believe that such a small nebulizer can cover up to 400 ft.². It’s compact, not more than 8 inches in diameter.
Even better, you’re not limited as to what power source you use. It requires just 5V, so it can run off the included power adapter or a USB cable plugged into your laptop. You can even power it with an external battery like the one you use to recharge your phone.
The white light doesn’t need to be on if you don’t want to use it while the diffuser is running. Or you can use the light without using the diffuser function.
The diffuser runs for 2 minutes on, 1 minute off, for up to 2 hours. Use the knob to adjust the amount of mist.
The glass reservoir is Pyrex, and it’s led-free.
Aromatherapy Diffuser – Wood and Glass Nebulizer by Aromis
Aromis offers a wide selection of different bases to match your décor. The different glass reservoirs are all handblown.
If you dial up the mist to maximum intensity, you can cover up to 30’ x 30’. Then the diffuser runs for 10 minutes on, 10 minutes off, for up to 4 hours.
Simply Diffusers EDEN Nebulizing Pure Essential Oil Diffuser
After a while, you might start to think that all nebulizing diffusers look more or less the same.
Of course, you might think the same about ultrasonic diffusers if you’ve been shopping for a while.
That’s why looking at the details is crucial.
Besides the handblown glass reservoir and wooden base, this model has a color-changing mood light. One button turns on the diffuser and controls all functions.
It runs for 2 minutes on, 1 minute off, for up to 2 hours before it shuts down. Meanwhile, the light will remain lit.
The company offers a 30-day return policy plus a one-year warranty.
Redolence Nebulizing Diffuser by Organic Aromas
Here’s a nebulizing diffuser that looks a little different from the rest. It’s 6 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter.
The base is made from plantation hardwood, and the reservoir is handblown Pyrex. Select from black, white, light wood, or dark wood.
But notice that the “mood light” is dazzling white. Fortunately, you can turn this off if it’s too bright.
The nebulizer has a cycle of 2 minutes on, 1 minute off, with automatic shutdown after 2 hours. With the maximum mist setting, it can cover up to 800 ft.².
Gya Labs Nebulizing Essential Oil Diffuser for Aromatherapy with Waterless Design
Skip the wooden bases and try anodized aluminum. Gya Labs says that every part of this diffuser is recyclable.
It’s available in rose gold, black, and red.
They offer a full refund if you’re not satisfied, plus there is a one-year warranty.
Anthun Rock Pattern Handmade Glass Art Ultrasonic Aroma Cool Mist Humidifier
It resembles marble, but this is a handmade glass reservoir on this ultrasonic diffuser. If you don’t look closely, you might think that it’s a decorative vase.
It’s even prettier with the 7-color LED light. You can set it to fix on one color, change shades slowly, or turn it off completely. Furthermore, there are 2 diffusion modes: continuous or intermittent.
If you’re concerned about plastic, you’ll want to know that the actual reservoir inside is BPA-free plastic.
Tomons Essential Oil Aroma Diffuser in Glass and Natural Wood
Yes, it resembles those inexpensive ultrasonic diffusers that you have seen before. But this one is made with frosted glass, and the base is natural wood.
There’s also a safety feature: when the tank runs dry, the diffuser shuts down automatically.
The controls allow you to change the color of the LED light and set one of 3 mist modes. On a full tank, it runs up to 6 hours continuously or 8 hours intermittently.
100ml Glass Essential Oil Diffuser Cold Mist Humidifier by PUSEAYZ
Here’s another decorative vase-like diffuser. It stands out not so much for its design, but its features.
This model gives you much more control over how long you want to diffuse. There are 4 timer settings: half an hour, one hour, 2 hours, or 3 hours.
There are independent controls for the light. Select one of 7 colors or allow it to cycle through shades.
You may also be happy to know that this diffuser carries FCC and ETL approvals. It comes with a 6-month warranty as well as a 45-day money-back guarantee.
COSVII Aroma Glass Diffuser for Essential Oils
At the moment, when you search with the keywords “glass diffuser,” you might see this product at the top of the list. It resembles a glass decanter, but it’s an ultrasonic humidifier.
It holds up to 120mL, or 4 ounces of water. In continuous mode, it runs up to 4 hours. Otherwise, in the intermittent mode that mists every 15 seconds, it works for 8 hours.
This model is suited to small rooms up to 160 ft.². When operating, it makes less than 21 dB of noise, which is quieter than a library.
