What is hyperpigmentation?
Hyperpigmentation is where the skin has produced too much melanin.
It could be a result of damage from the sun.

Two things may happen when you treat hyperpigmentation with essential oils.
The first is that some oils block the enzyme that produces melanin. It’s called tyrosinase.
The second is that some oils encourage skin cells to reproduce more quickly. The old, discolored skin sheds and normal skin replaces it.
Also, many oils reduce inflammation, which can help with acne scarring or dark marks after surgery.

The sweet floral aroma is calming and grounding.

Here are some ideas for how to use essential oils for dark spots.
Essential oil recipe for melasma
Melasma may go away on its own. It happens because of hormone changes associated with pregnancy.
To fade melasma, try the following:
- ½ teaspoon carrot seed oil
- ½ teaspoon evening primrose oil
- one drop of lavender
- one drop of frankincense
Massage the affected skin twice a day with this blend.
Essential oils for freckles

- Two drops lemon essential oil
- One drop geranium

Aloe vera and green tea may also lighten discoloration. Green tea is commonly used in cosmetics and lotions because it’s anti-inflammatory and it fights cancer, too.
Even soy milk can brighten skin tone.
Again, the key to all of these treatments is consistent application and patience.
Hyperpigmentation can be frustrating and depressing for people.
